There's nothing like natural light cascading down on a sleeping baby. Sweet Pea was so tired by the end of her shoot fighting to stay awake the whole time we finally set her down on a some potato sacks in the corner of the store before getting her dressed and off she went to the land of nod, who knew burlap could be so comfy.
This is the photo that started me on my path to photographing newborns, I had never even photographed my own children before they turned 2 months old partly because I was exhausted and sleep deprived and partly because I was just never inspired enough to take pictures of newborns until now with my four beautiful kids all out of diapers and growing like weeds I have the chance though rare and the time to look back and reflect on all those precious moments that past so quickly, if only I had photos.I know photographer without photos , that's just the way it goes( I've been making up for it lately). This sweet girl was a big bundle of joy weighing in at over 11 lbs. and I couldn't help but love those cheeks, her Dad works for CSX Railroad so what better to do than have her with asleep on coal car and I could be luckier to have found this kid size replica of an actual train sitting on real tracks outside of local train museum, with real coal and real dirt on the wheels, just what I had in mind. Thank you sweet girl I know you'll never remember that it was 90+ degrees in the shade that day or your little toe getting stuck on the chicken wire, you were an angel so next time I need to take a photo of you with wings.

Sweet Peas might be on your grocery list this week, but you might not find this special variety at the local market. She was such precious little girl, her parents are very lucky to have such a calm, content and easy going first born much like mine was 9 years ago. I loved creating this photo and the double take from the customers who would then ask if that was a real baby on the shelf, Sweet Pea's Mom practically grew up in this little corner store so they welcomed the idea, I couldn't have just walk into a Publix or Winn-Dixie , rearrange their shelves and put a naked baby in the baking isle without going through miles of red tape. It's been a couple months, I wonder if she's eaten her first jar of peas yet.
