Sweet Sisters

Spring sessions are awesome around here, these are from the latest shoot, it gets ridiculous in the summer and no one wants shots of their children hot and irritable from the heat, hope I can get a few more in before then. This year was exceptionally warm can you believe I started my spring photo shoots way back in January, most of the kids were in shorts and sundresses. Here's to amazing gulf coast weather and sunsets on the bay!

News to me

Sadly but true the end of the daily paper maybe coming to a newspaper near you and after 16 wonderful and fulfilling years the uncertainty of my beloved job and co-workers has left a whole in my heart. I never imaged this day would come, that I could wake up to an empty doorstep and drink my coffee infront of the computer instead of our daily paper, like a friend said to me today "what will my dog do if there's no paper to fetch me in the mornings?, though for some of us the death of the daily newspaper will go unnoticed and other's won't realized what exactly they'll miss until it's gone, as for me it will be more than just the folded piece of newsprint it will be the decades of memories and the friends I've made along the way.

May Flowers

It was a beautiful spring afternoon when I took this photo of my oldest daughter. This photo is pretty much straight out of the camera, the lighting was soft and the colors creamy so I pretty much left is as is, I love all the different shades of purple, blue, and red highlights in her hair against her yellow shirt and the red rossette headband.

May's photo challenge over at Rock The Shot Forum is “Flower Portrait”, so your submission this month must include flowers and at least ONE person. Stop on over everyone is invited to participate!

Water

This time of year we enjoy lazy days on the river so I used a slow shutter speed to capture the ever graceful movement of water and on since we live near the birth place of Mardi Gras you can find on any typical day kids playing with their left over Mardi Gras decorations and costumes, the mask definitely added to the allure of the photo.
I converted the image to black and white and add just a little color to warm it up.

5 votes for my camera phone!

I don't carry my "fancy" Canon 5D mark II camera around with me, especially when we take walks, it would just be to heavy especially when I usually carrying around a tired 5 year old and I definitely don't carry it when I run out at the last minute to vote.
But I did happen to grab the phone before we left and isn't it nice to know you can still get a great creative pic from a phone! It's not even an iphone. I'm always amazed and jealous of my friend who have an iphone, all those apps and it takes amazing quality photos for a pocket device.
I then used some photoshop actions download free from Pioneer Woman they really made the camera photo pop! Be sure to stop over on over and check them out.

Spring is Here!

The weather has been near perfection! Most of the time my kids are spending the afternoon playing basketball among the blooming Azaleas in our backyard. I shot this one holding the camera using the hail mary technique looking through our tire swing. I just love how it turned out, the pink flowers really pop out against the black of the swing.
